Ultrasound Tech / Radiology / Hospital Setting
This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our dynamic team in a hospital setting located in New Concord, OH. Nestled in the beautiful foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and near several metro areas, our 100-bed acute care facility is part of a respected regional healthcare system. You will be playing a crucial role in our Radiology Department, providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services and exceptional patient care. Highly visible in the facility, your work will ensure optimal diagnostic outcomes and contribute directly to the health and well-being of our community. This position offers competitive compensation, full benefits, and a $10,000 sign-on bonus.
Compensation: $28.25 - $42.50 per hour, plus shift differentials of $1.15 for 3 PM to 11 PM and $1.38 for 11 PM to 7 AM shifts
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations including abdominal, obstetrics and gynecology, small parts, and retroperitoneal scans.
- Assist in minor surgical and invasive procedures such as cyst aspirations, thoracentesis, amniocentesis, and biopsies.
- Select proper technical factors and positioning techniques to optimize each examination.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring it is set up and functioning properly before each procedure.
- Provide patient education, explaining procedures to alleviate anxiety and elicit cooperation during ultrasound scans.
- Gather clinical history and pertinent data from patients or family members to inform the examination and diagnostic process.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and health regulations regarding handling and disposal of biohazard materials.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Graduation from a recognized ultrasound technology program.
- Registered or registry-eligible with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
- Proven ability to work independently under the supervision of a Radiologist and Medical Director of Diagnostic Imaging.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients, staff, and physicians.
- Ability to perform a variety of ultrasound procedures as listed above, including emergency and complex cases.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a hospital radiology department.
- Advanced certifications in ultrasound specialties, such as in vascular technology.
- Experience with PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems.
- Strong organizational skills to effectively handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current in the field.
Skills:
- Excellent patient management skills to ensure comfort and compliance during procedures.
- Detailed knowledge of ultrasound imaging and the ability to discern subtle differences in imaging that could be indicative of pathology.
- Technical proficiency with ultrasound equipment and related software.
- Adept at critical thinking and problem-solving in a clinical setting.
- Strong documentation and record-keeping skills to accurately report findings and enhance patient care continuity.
