Seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team in a dynamic and supportive environment located in Manassas, VA. This full-time role offers a regular weekday schedule and a professional growth opportunity in a high-demand field. You will be primarily responsible for performing blood draws and managing specimens with expertise and care. This position plays a crucial role in our diagnostics and patient care services, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of specimen processing and adherence to all health and safety guidelines.
Compensation: Dependent on Experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performing accurate and efficient blood draws and other types of specimen collection such as urine and fecal samples.
- Labeling specimens accurately and ensuring they are processed and stored according to required protocols.
- Using centrifugation to prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
- Ensuring proper specimen storage, handling, and transport to maintain integrity and quality.
- Updating and verifying patient information to maintain an accurate medical record.
- Complying with all OSHA and DEP regulations related to safety in medical settings.
- Attending annual training sessions and contributing to team knowledge by sharing insights and experience.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Valid phlebotomy certification for the state of commencement if required.
- Minimum of 6 months' experience in venipuncture in a fast-paced clinical or laboratory setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite for recording and documentation purposes.
- High School Diploma or GED, with 0-2 years of professional experience.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and maintain accuracy in detailed work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a hospital atmosphere or large medical facility.
- Demonstrated ability in the use of straight and butterfly needles for venipuncture.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain procedures clearly to patients.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to recommend process improvements.
- Flexibility to adapt and meet the changing needs of the team and work environment.
Skills:
- Expertise in blood sampling and other specimen collection techniques.
- Proficient in labelling and data entry to ensure traceability of all specimens.
- Ability to maintain composure and patient care quality under stressful conditions.
- Sound understanding of health and safety regulations in a laboratory setting.
- Strong organizational skills to manage a large number of specimens efficiently.
