About the Job
The Medical Payment Poster Specialist is responsible for executing a range of accounting tasks within the accounts receivable department. This role includes posting insurance and patient remittances, managing payment reject lists, and addressing non-paid correspondence. The specialist ensures that payments are accurately recorded and any discrepancies are resolved.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Post daily Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) payments listed in the daily ERA email.
Post daily insurance mail payments to the mail payment journal using the journal date as the batch date.
Post daily Patient Payment (PP) mail payments to the POA mail deposit journal with corresponding batch dates.
Enter zero-pay ERA claims and denials into the tasking system.
Review and verify IVIG claims for correct payment per unit of infused drugs.
Resolve overpaid claims and manage unapplied credits.
Forward underpaid IVIG claims to the IVIG AR specialist for further follow-up.
Inform the coding specialist of any unusual claim edits, non-paid codes, or discrepancies.
Track payment rates in the system to ensure insurance plans are paying at the correct contractual rate.
Provide additional support as assigned by management.
Serve as backup for the Insurance AR specialist.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in payment posting or other medical billing roles.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Access.
Knowledge of medical billing practices.
Familiarity with Vitera Intergy is preferred but not mandatory.
Basic understanding of medical terminology.
