Description
ECC is seeking candidates for a Staff Chemist position. This office and field position is primarily responsible for helping plan, select, coordinate, and implement chemical, analytical, and environmental services to fully address the scope of work on environmental remediation and hazardous waste management projects in accordance with Company standards, regulatory criteria, and contractual obligations. This position will follow a hybrid work model: some time will be spent in the field and other times working remotely from home and/or an ECC office. In this position, you will:
- Data validation
- Data table generation
- Data management
- Review analytical chemistry laboratory results (soil, water, air) for compliance with project Data Quality Objectives (DQO)
- Ensure alignment with the Sampling and Analysis Plan (SAP), which outlines the DQO Measurement Performance Criteria (MPC)
- Compare laboratory quality control results to the SAP's MPC
- Apply qualifiers to data based on MPC exceedance
- Document the data validation process in a Data Validation Report (DVR) (Word and PDF format)
- Annotate EDD (Excel format) with data validation qualifier
- Include a reason code to explain the rationale for the qualification
Requirements
- Knowledge of chemical, analytical, regulatory and scientific principles and analytical tools
- An understanding of design/ apply sampling and analysis processes and remediation technologies to achieve project goals
- Knowledge of Federal environmental regulations, DoD guidelines, OSHA standards, USACE QC protocol, building codes/ standards, and FAR
- The ability to identify, evaluate, and recommend remedial alternatives
- Communicate well by written and verbal means and review work by others
- The ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and timelines
- The ability to work well independently and as a team
- Competent in using Microsoft Office products, email systems, and Windows
- No previous experience required but internship preferred
- Education - Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Toxicology or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for this requirement
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER Certification preferred Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER training/ 8 Hour Refresher
- Two years of progressively responsible experience conducting field sampling, operation and maintenance, or other environmental services, with two years of field experience.
ECC targeted salary range for this position is $48,000 - $60,000 annually. Actual salary offered may be affected by education, training, certifications, experience, skills, level of responsibility, and location.
