Clinical Nurse Educator 3 Job Summary The Health Professions Education Grants team is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Educator to join a cross functional team that manages a portfolio of grants. The main goal of this team is to advance interprofessional education, enhance clinician's knowledge and skills, and facilitate faculty practice development through a portfolio of grants focused on primary care health care workforce and faculty clinical practice development. The CNE will primarily work on the implementation of a Department of Labor (DOL) grant: The Residency in Education, Teaching, And Instruction in Nursing (RETAIN). RETAIN is focused on increasing the number and diversity of nursing instructors and faculty. The grant will include a 12-month and 3-month program for nurses who are interested in advancing their careers and becoming clinical instructors or nurse educators.
The CNE will apply professional concepts and nursing experience to contribute to the planning and development of educational experiences, including didactic presentations, simulations and educational videos. The CNE will ensure timely completion of all deliverables working under the general supervision of an experienced nurse educator. The CNE will work with experienced faculty in the delivery of educational experiences to grant trainees. The CNE will assist in creating or adapting educational content, setting up systems and/or collecting evaluation data required by the grant, this may include evaluation educational experiences. The CNE will also be responsible for the logistical operations of some educational activities working closely with the rest of the Health Professions Education Grants team.
The CNE may also be involved in other programmatic operations including the admissions process. The CNE will work closely with the Project Director, Project Manager and other members of the team to ensure successful implementation of the grant work plan to meet all deliverables including reporting requirements.
This position is grant funded. The grant is funded through May 31, 2028 and this position is dependent upon the funding being provided.

Minimum Qualifications - Possession of a valid California RN license.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Experience participating in the development of clinical education programs to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Experience participating in the implementation and facilitation of clinical education experiences for a range of learners.
- Experience in group management and presentation skills to organize and guide large groups of learners during educational experiences.
- Experience with or ability to quickly adopt learning management systems (e.g. Canvas), web-based survey systems (e.g. Qualtrics), and healthcare education management systems (e.g. MedHub, e-Value).
- Experience with event planning and coordination necessary to oversee a complex, in-person events/activities.
- Experience in developing strategic direction and also parcel objectives into short-term tasks
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse community members representing various ethnic, cultural, language, educational, socioeconomic, and political views.
- Ability to deliver clinical education and training materials for orientation and skill/competency learning and leadership development for a variety of learners from different professions and levels of experience.
- Knowledge of a broad spectrum of health profession practices and issues, including nursing and that of other health care professions.
- Acquiring knowledge of methodology for conducting evidence-based research, data collection, analysis and reporting.
- Demonstrated knowledge, skill, and creativity or the ability to quickly learn simulation development and implementation including group debriefing.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills to provide education and training and to develop positive working relationships with students, clinical staff, faculty and leadership from one's own profession and others (interprofessional).
- Demonstrated skill in written and verbal communication to collaborate productively in a team environment, and to convey complex clinical information in a clear and concise manner.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information, and quickly assess basic problems and develop potential solutions.
- Demonstrated organizational and planning skills to meet deadlines and accomplish projects on time.
- Ability to exercise sounds judgment, display tact and diplomacy, and deliver factual information in a timely manner.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, results oriented environment. Uphold all university policies and procedures and follow sound business practices.
- Maintain sensitivity to controversial or confrontational issues. Exercise discretion when informed of confidential information necessary to perform the functions of the position. Adhere to HIPAA in all patient-related matters.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office software applications. Position is expected to be self-sufficient with regard to routine clerical duties, eg. filing, word processing, photo copying, faxing.
- Ability to provide effective team leadership.
- Demonstrated project management and administrative support to oversee multiple complex projects and activities simultaneously.
- Diplomacy to effectively represent UC Davis, the Betty Irene Moore SON, and communicate effectively with faculty and administrators from partner organizations.
- Data analytical skills to complete comprehensive reports.
- Ability to quickly ascertain group dynamics and organizational issues and respond appropriately and effectively.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required to prepare reports, project plans, and presentations.
- Must be extremely competent with word processing, presentation software, spreadsheets, databases, and technology.
- Able to independently and creatively problem-solve and demonstrate insight to understand issues that require escalation to other members of the project team.
- Excellent organizational skills to determine workload priorities to enable timely completion of tasks.
- Ability to work effectively and independently under pressure with a minimum of direction.
Preferred Qualifications - Certification as Nurse Educator from the National League for Nursing
- Master's degree in nursing or related field strongly preferred
- Experience with faculty development content and programming
- Experience with federal grant reporting
