About the Unit:
The Observation Unit has 32 beds and is designed to provide a hybrid of care between emergency and traditional inpatient services. Patients are followed for a length of stay of approximately 23 hours. A mid-level provider is on the unit 24/7 to provide high quality, prompt care. Nurses care for patients with a heavy emphasis on cardiovascular and neurovascular diagnoses.
Job Duties:
The observation nurse assesses and identifies patient needs and implements appropriate interventions for the patient. The observation Registered Nurse establishes and maintains a plan for the delivery of nursing care; assures that nursing care interventions and activities are directed to resolve problems; and performs technical aspects of care competently. Observation RNs must have strong critical thinking skills. This unit is a great fit for nurses with a background in ER or telemetry, but new graduate nurses are welcome to apply.
Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required:
- Active Kentucky RN License
- BCLS Required
- ACLS Required
