Position: Ultrasound Tech (PT)
POSITION SUMMARY: The Tech Ultrasound is responsible for the day-to-day operations (patient flow) and efficiency of the ultrasound department. The technologist must have knowledge of all areas within the ultrasound Department. Must utilize the principles of continuous quality improvement in collaboration with other health team members. The Ultrasound Technologist performs ultrasound examinations according to the currently accepted practices of the ARDMS and Northwest Texas Healthcare System. The technologist will prepare technical reports, exam rooms, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
Key Performance Functions and Responsibilities:
- Performs a variety of Technical procedures.
- Assists Radiologist and Staff Physicians with tests.
- Demonstrates ultrasound abdomen/OB skills needed for all positions.
- Demonstrates good patient care.
- Utilizes appropriate leadership skills in supervising students and providing feedback concerning student performance.
- Demonstrates good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Is a professional role model for personnel.
- Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and employees.
- Assesses risks to patient safety and implements appropriate precautions.
- Complies with appropriate and approved standards relating to patients, infection control, and environmental issues.

QualificationsEDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire and maintain certification throughout employment
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or Cardiology Credentialing International (CCI) attempted within 18 - 24 months of hire date
