We are seeking a dedicated Medical Support Specialist (MSS) to join our busy plasma donation center. The ideal candidate will be an LPN, RN, or EMT-P who thrives in a fast-paced, structured environment. The primary focus of this role is to evaluate donor eligibility, ensure donor safety, and provide support throughout the plasma donation process. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to handle difficult conversations, and a commitment to teamwork. This is a direct-hire, full-time, and permanent.
Shifts: 4x10 hour shifts, primarily
Salary Range:
- RN: $34-$35/hr
- LPN: $29-$30/hr
- EMT-P: $26/hr
- Sign-on Bonus: $2,000

Key Responsibilities:
- Donor Eligibility Assessment: Evaluate donors' medical history, perform physical assessments (height, weight, vitals), and finger pokes to measure hematocrit and protein levels.
- Documentation: Accurately complete all required documentation for donor eligibility, donor reactions, and any employee incidents following strict regulatory guidelines.
- Patient Interaction: Deliver flu shots to donors and employees, handle adverse donor reactions, and provide assistance during the active donation process.
- Cross-Training: Assist in production tasks as needed, including gathering donor medical history and entering data into the system.
- Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe environment, ensure compliance with regulations, and coordinate with EMS for any medical emergencies.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with a small, close-knit team of MSS professionals, rotating shifts as openers or closers, and ensure smooth communication regarding shift changes.
Qualifications:
- Licenses: RN, LPN, or EMT-P with active certification.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years in a clinical or plasma center setting preferred.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, ability to handle sensitive conversations with empathy, and comfort working in a fast-paced, repetitive environment.
- Bilingual candidates preferred.
- Soft Skills: Ability to handle confrontation and deliver difficult news to donors who may be ineligible to donate.
- Must be a team player with the capacity to learn new technology and software systems.
Training and Support:
- Training Duration: 5-week program with one preceptor on-site. Travel may be required for training (hotel, car, and food provided).
Work Environment:
- The center operates in the lower-income part of the Denver metropolitan area, with well-lit parking and a secure environment.
- The team culture is close-knit, supportive, and collaborative, with an emphasis on reliability and communication.
- Winter is the busiest season, and nurses have flexibility in scheduling shifts as openers or closers.
Center Hours:
- Sunday: 7:00 am – 3:00 pm
- Monday: 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm
- Tuesday - Thursday: 6:00 am - 7:00 pm
- Friday: 6:00 am - 6:00 pm
- Saturday: 7:00 am - 3:00 pm
