Position Summary / Career Interest:
The Nurse Manager, Pharmacy Home Infusion manages specific nursing and administrative functions related to the operations of Home Infusion. This includes but is not limited to ongoing clinical workflow analysis, working toward best practice principles/guidelines, and participation in change management processes. The manager is responsible for home health agency functions as it relates to home infusion nursing.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Manages the delivery of nursing care and practice of professional nursing for home infusion patients.
- Collaborates with the patient’s healthcare team to ensure quality care and services are provided. From a home infusion perspective this includes nursing care essential to the assessment, promotion, maintenance and restoration of patients' health and wellness and when appropriate, suggesting solutions for consideration when patient care problems arise.
- Develops and maintains departmental policy and procedures along with patient care standards to ensure efficient, effective, evidence-based delivery of health services. Develops and implements quality and safety initiatives to provide the highest level of care.
- Serves as a role model for pharmacy and team culture taking part in meaningful conversations surrounding self-reflection and assisting co-workers with application of the behaviors associated with the culture principles.
- Serves as liaison between home infusion and both internal departments of The University of Kansas Health System and external agencies.
- Performs all personnel management activities for the Home Infusion Nursing Team. Directs and supervises nursing services in accordance with governmental and other regulatory standards.
- Demonstrates mastery of complex job duties effectively handles day-to-day challenges assisting others with prioritization of tasks and remaining calm and positive during high volume or high stress times.
- Visits patient homes as needed for supervisory nurse visits, observations and back-up staffing coverage. Participates in home infusion on-site meetings and education as needed.
- Participates in the development and implementation of short-term goals and longer-range plans for the department. Uses data and problem-solving strategies to support continuous improvement. Monitors and manages labor statistics and expenditures.
- Participates in personal professional development activities to remain current with healthcare trends and practices relative to the services of home infusion.
- Actively participates in continuous process improvement. If applicable, participation in the quality management program is expected with the goal of improving services by monitoring processes, analyzing data, implementing interventions to improve, and evaluating the effectiveness of those interventions. Responsibilities may include working to establish and maintain long- and short-term goals for the Quality Management Program; monitoring and documenting Quality Improvement Projects (QIPs) for progress in meeting QI goals; and providing guidance and education to staff on Quality Management priorities and projects. If applicable, as part of the program, the staff will uphold the quality of the Patient Management Program to include the development and reassessment of the program.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor Degree Nursing
- 2 or more years nursing management experience
- 5 or more years professional nursing experience
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master's Degree in Business Administration/Management Health OR
- Master Degree Nursing
- Experience in home health/infusion management
- Home infusion nursing experience
Required Licensure and Certification
- Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Multi-State - State Board of Nursing Kansas and Missouri
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) within 14 days
- Unrestricted driver’s license in state of residence with access to a vehicle for business travel with proof in insurance.
Preferred Licensure and Certification
Nursing Professional Development Certification (NPD-BC) - American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Infusion
Required Language Skills
Fluent English - Ability to read, write and understand
Knowledge Requirements
- Basic keyboarding and word processing ability
