The Registered Professional Nurse at Northside Hospital independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines, and in accordance with the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains certification in ACLS per national standard (for Registered Nurse performing moderate sedation).
- Prepares patient for procedure through education, obtaining lab work, initiating venous access, and medicating the patient as needed.
- Explains procedure(s) and provides age-appropriate pre-procedure instructions to patients and their significant other.
- Administers moderate sedation to patients undergoing invasive procedures under the direction of the anesthesiologist (if applicable).
- Reports changes in patient's condition and aids in emergency measures as required.
- Administers post-procedure care and instructions.
- Provides assistance in positioning C-Arm device for Physician, as needed.
- Applies the nursing process in the assessment and care of pain & spine center patients.
REQUIRED:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
- Minimum of two (2) years of full-time experience as a RN post-orientation or post-residency training.
- Certified in American Heart Association's Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
- Other REQUIRED cardiopulmonary resuscitation certifications (ACLS, NRP, PALS, etc.) are unit specific. Please refer to the specific clinical unit.
- Please refer to the specific clinical unit for additional education, competencies and/or certification required as a condition of employment.
PREFERRED:
- Procedural experience and IV insertion skills.
- Procedural or Operating Room experience (including pre-op, OR, PACU, Interventional Pain, Endovascular, Interventional Radiology, Endoscopy and/or Labor and Delivery) and strong IV insertion skills.
- Solid experience in Med/Surg, Ortho, Neuro, Oncology are good assets as well.
