Physician Assistant - General Surgery

Salary Range:
$144,300 – $218,000 per year
Job Summary:
Under the direction of a supervising physician, the Physician Assistant will provide high-quality, efficient, and team-based patient-focused care. Responsibilities include managing patients in the office, hospital, emergency department (ED), and/or perioperative setting. The Physician Assistant may also First Assist in the OR or perform other department-specific procedures. The position may require weekend or evening work and on-call duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Practice as part of a team under the supervision of a physician.
- Conduct patient examinations, comprehensive physical exams, and compile medical data, including health history.
- Administer and interpret diagnostic tests such as imaging studies, electrocardiograms, and lab tests.
- Perform therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care.
- Develop and implement patient management plans, document progress notes, and ensure continuity of care.
- Provide patient education on treatment plans, health maintenance, and other relevant information.
- Assist in surgical procedures, including working as First Assist, suturing, and starting IVs.
- Facilitate patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Participate in peri-operative and post-operative care, reviewing patient charts, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring a smooth recovery process.
Qualifications:

Education: Graduate from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program.

Licensure: Active California Physician Assistant License and Physician Assistant National Certification required upon hire.

Certifications: BLS certification required at hire; ACLS certification preferred.

Experience: Prior OR Experience is required, including competency in First Assist.
