Genex Systems is looking for a Concrete Research Technician (CON-RT) responsible for assisting engineers in conducting concrete research projects for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) at the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center (TFHRC).
The CON-RT will be assigned to the Concrete Laboratory at TFHRC. Research conducted in the Concrete Laboratory addresses the characterization and evaluation of cement‐based materials, concretes, and materials in contact with types of cement and concrete structures (pavements and bridges) made from these materials. The research program conducts applied and basic research within the identified topic areas looking at innovative materials, designs, construction processes, assessment techniques, and rehabilitation solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the FHWA and Concrete Materials Research Engineers with the execution of research projects and to maintain cleanliness/order of the laboratory.
- Duties may include but not limited to making concrete formwork, mixing concrete, coring, preparing concrete specimens for testing purposes, maintaining general lab cleanliness, moving items with a forklift or crane, basic rigging, and installing instrumentation under the supervision of a Concrete Materials Research Engineer.
Qualifications:
- No specific education requirements
- Must have a good level of mechanical aptitude, basic math skills, experience using hand 0tools, and function well in a professional research environment.
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I certification is preferred.
- Requires US citizenship or valid work visa with 3 years residency in the US.
