Responsibilities
The Oncology Nurse Navigator is a specialized Registered Nurse who is responsible for guiding patients through the complexities of cancer care. This role involves providing individualized support, education, and coordination during and after cancer treatment, ensuring seamless and integrated care. This position collaborates with a multidisciplinary team, ensuring continuity of care by maintaining patient records and communication across the care team.
This position is essential for assisting patients in understanding their diagnosis, treatment options, and potential side effects. The Nurse Navigator will guide the patient and their loved ones through the disease process, treatment plans, symptom management, and all resources available for support. This position is crucial for ensuring patient care is seamless and requires collaboration in all aspects of the patient's cancer treatment.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
- Current and valid state RN License.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years in a related field preferred.
- Public speaking experience in both large and small groups, preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, priority-setting, and decision-making skills.
- Program planning and/or project management experience and evaluation strongly preferred.
- Computer skills required.
- Critical thinking skills required. Must be autonomous and self-driven. Must be able to work well independently and with others.
- Demonstrated competencies include: Customer Focus, Problem-Solving, Strategy Development, Performance Reporting, and Marketing.
