Overview:
As a student in an approved Therapy Program, the Earn as You Learn (EAYL) Tech - Therapy participates in clinical coursework under the direction of a licensed Therapist. The EAYL student assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient's highest level of wellness, working cooperatively with others as part of the healthcare team, and performs designated clinical procedures and nonclinical support tasks within the scope of the designated Therapy School program. It is important to note that this role is not a paid or employed position with Mercy. Instead, it is a learning opportunity aimed at fulfilling educational requirements and gaining hands-on experience in a healthcare setting. The Earn as You Learn Tech - Therapy's participation in this program is voluntary and solely for educational purposes. The Earn as You Learn Tech - Therapy will work under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals to enhance their clinical skills, develop critical thinking abilities, and apply theoretical knowledge to real-life patient care scenarios.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma, G.E.D., and accepted in an accredited therapy program. Must be a Therapy student in good standing at a university in which Mercy has a contracted clinical affiliation and be in the final set of clinical rotations. Must complete and pass all final clinicals without need for extension or remediation while in this role. If a student leaves the Therapy program for any reason, they can no longer take part in the EAYL program.
Licensure: Must apply for a temporary license in the state of practice within 2 weeks following graduation. Eligible to sit for state of practice therapy boards upon graduation from an accredited therapy program.
Certifications: Current BLS required.
Physical Requirements: a. Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis. b. Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift. c. Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
