General Information:
Our Psychologist will be a member of the Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) team. The primary patient population for the position is pediatrics ages 10+, with adult patients seen based on TRC need as well.
Major Responsibilities:
- Provision of Clinical Psychological Services
- COUNSELING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY: Conduct psychodiagnostic assessments according to established clinical protocols, formulate case conceptualizations, establish psychiatric diagnoses according to DSM criteria, recommend appropriate treatment plans, and document according to established procedures and policies.
- Provide diagnostic consultative services as ordered by the physician.
- Provide psychotherapy on an individual, couple, family, and/or group basis following acceptable clinical guidelines.
- Formulate goal-oriented treatment plans with expected outcomes in collaboration with the patient and family where appropriate.
- Educate patients and families regarding the nature of the patient's illness, its expected course, treatment options, and alternative treatments.
- Assess the patient's and family’s level of understanding, motivation, and compliance to engage in treatment according to the plan.
- Develop plans to incorporate community-based resources as appropriate.
- Develop strategies to assist families and other healthcare providers in managing the patient's behaviors and illness.
- Program Specific Activities
- Design clinical programs as appropriate and as assigned or approved by the Director.
- Coordinate the clinical services of staff and provide clinical supervision as assigned by the Director.
- Evaluate program performance in terms of process and outcome.
- Work collaboratively with other staff and professionals on projects.
- Provide the Director with regular reports regarding all aspects of program development and evaluation.

- Education, Training and Research
- Provide education to patients and families about the role of psychological factors in illness, treatment, and recovery.
- Educate other healthcare providers regarding psychological factors in illness, treatment, and recovery.
- Provide education to other professionals regarding psychological factors in illness and management of patients and families.
- Present educational material in formal settings as assigned.
- Present educational issues to the community.
- Provide clinical training and supervision to psychology graduate students and medical residents.
- Provide clinical supervision of staff as assigned.
- Conduct all research activities with authorization from the Director, adhering to established procedures and standards.
- Present completed and ongoing research to colleagues at appropriate forums.

- Provide clinical services in a professional and customer-friendly manner.
- Conduct oneself in a professional and courteous manner with respect for customer needs.
- Provide services in accordance with Ethics and Standards of Practice of the American Psychological Association.
- Complete all documentation according to established procedures and policies.
- Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning and aftercare planning.
- Participate in continuing education for clinical psychologists.
- Report on conferences and workshops attended at department meetings.
- Departmental Activities
- Attend and participate in Division Training Activities if involved in Psychology student training.
- Attend relevant team, department, and division meetings as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Required:
- Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited graduate program.
- Completion of APA accredited Internship/Residency in Clinical Psychology.
- Graduate coursework and clinical training reflecting preparation to function as a psychologist in the area of specialization.
- Five years of clinical experience, including one year of predoctoral internship/residency and at least three years of clinical experience in the area of specialization.
Licensure:
- Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the State of Illinois.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Advanced knowledge and skills in case conceptualization and treatment planning.
- Advanced knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis using current DSM criteria.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge of Ethical Principles and Standards of Practice for Psychologists (APA).
- Advanced customer-oriented service skills.
- Basic understanding of teaching, clinical supervision, and research.
- Basic knowledge of clinical leadership and coordination of clinical activities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to work in a managed care friendly model with patients and families.
- Ability to provide care in accordance with clinical parameters.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance, using patient handling equipment as needed.
