**This is a repost, previous applicants will still be considered and do not need to reapply.**The Infection Control Nurse is primarily responsible for overseeing the overall educational needs of nursing services and maintaining a system-wide infection control program during COVID-19. In accordance with Joint Commission and CMS standards, the Hospital must provide a sanitary environment to avoid sources of and transmission of infectious and communicable diseases. This role involves monitoring and maintaining an active hospital-wide program for overseeing all areas of infection control. This includes responding to bacterial, viral as well as any nosocomial threats or outbreaks at Walter B. Jones Center by education, re-evaluating affected areas and ensuring that proper protocols are followed as specified by CDC and State policies. Job responsibilities include the following:- Manages the Hospitals infection Control Process
- Manages Employee Health Services
- Serving as a resource to and instructing staff
- Coordinating to meet standards and mandated training, including the performance improvement program
- Planning and conducting clinical in-services training courses
- Planning and implementing policy and procedures
- Providing a system for identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infections and communicable diseases in an in-patient environment.
Position will work 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Schedule requires flexibility to accommodate training/education for 2nd shift employees as requested by the Chief Nursing Officer.
About the Walter B. Jones Center:
The Walter B. Jones Center operates two adult inpatient treatment programs on site in Greenville, NC: (1) Woodside Treatment Center and (2) Lakeside Psychiatric Hospital. The primary purpose and mission of the Walter B. Jones Center is "To provide inpatient treatment, psychiatric stabilization and medical detoxification for individuals with mental health, substance use and other co-occurring psychiatric diagnoses for ongoing community based treatment and recovery". The Center is accredited by the Joint Commission and SAMHSA/CSAT. Two specialty programs are offered to all 100 NC Counties: (1) Inpatient Opioid Treatment for adults and (2) Inpatient Perinatal Services for women in their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimesters with substance use disorders.To receive credit for all of your work history and credentials, you must list the information on the application form. Qualified candidates must document on the application that they possess all of the following:
- Proven basic knowledge of nursing principles and techniques for medical, surgical and mental health practices.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of principles and practices of state and federal law standards, certifying and accrediting bodies, guidelines, and regulations applicable to areas of assignment.
- Demonstrated working knowledge in gathering, compiling, and performing analysis on data.
- Demonstrated working knowledge in providing patient and family education on disease processes, treatment and self-care.
- Demonstrated proficiency to engage in public speaking.

**Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus
Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:
A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).
An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
(1) the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);
(2) the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;
(3) or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
