We are looking for a Medical Records Technician II or III to work in the billing area for UT Physicians. These employees ensure physical documentation is accounted for according to Medicaid/Medicare and organizational guidelines to facilitate payment for services. You must be detail oriented as well as customer service driven. You will deal with amendments to patient records such as making changes when needed. You will need to communicate both verbally and in writing with patients and doctors. These employees also deal with breeches where records may be accidentally compromised, and should be well-versed in solid HIPPA practices. Experience with Epic software is a plus.
Epic Experience with the Identity module is preferred, this is the part of Epic that looks at patient demographics and information. It manages duplicate accounts, chart corrections, overlays, and prevents duplicates in information. You must have experience with medical records and there is not an emphasis on a billing process.
You will work full-time in an office in the heart of the Texas Medical Center in UT Physicians' Professional Building. This facility is on both Metro rail and bus lines, and be aware employees must pay for parking if they choose to drive in. You will be joining a great team of over twenty billing professionals. Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Locates and retrieves records to accurately audit and verify patient information.
2. Updates client charts with information in a timely manner.
3. Audits charts, records and record documentation deficiencies for attending physicians to correct.
4. Track location of charts using appropriate software.
5. Respond to information requests either in person or by telephone in a timely manner.
6. As requested, locate and make ready charts or information from charts in a timely manner
7. Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
• Familiar with Electronic Health Records software.
• Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams etc.)
• Experience with Epic Health Information Management module preferred. Preference given to those who have worked with Epic's Identity module.
• Registered Health information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification preferred.
Minimum Education:
High school diploma
Minimum Experience:
At least One (1) year of responsible related experience working within Medical Records.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
