The Role Itself
As an Inside Broker, you'll collaborate with brokers to provide efficient service and strategically place commercial accounts, ensuring high client satisfaction and loyalty. You'll apply your expertise in commercial insurance to review submissions, assess exposures, and identify appropriate markets for risk placement. This involves evaluating risk exposures, obtaining and negotiating quotes, and clearly explaining coverage and pricing to brokers. You'll also drive lead generation, manage account documentation, and maintain positive relationships with agents and colleagues. Staying current on industry trends through ongoing education is essential, along with performing additional assigned tasks.
Responsibilities include:
- Works with brokers to develop efficient service and strategic market placement for commercial accounts, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and loyalty.
- Applies expertise in commercial insurance coverages to review submissions from retail brokers, assessing exposures and necessary coverage.
- Evaluates risk exposures and coverage needs from broker submissions, using independent judgment to strategically place risks with the best carriers.
- Identifies appropriate insurance markets for quote requests, obtains quotes, and manages the placement process in line with broker and market agreements.
- Analyzes and negotiates the best terms for coverage and pricing, and clearly explains quote details to brokers to facilitate binding decisions.
- Drives lead generation through outbound calls, assesses online and phone quote activities, and identifies opportunities for business growth.
- Collaborates with retail agencies and brokerages, serving as a key intermediary between insurance markets and retail brokers, and addressing their needs.
- Ensures thorough account management by attaching and maintaining all required documents for each policy and account.
- Maintains positive working relationships with current agents and colleagues.
- Keeps up-to-date with industry trends and sales strategies through regular participation in workshops, seminars, literature reviews, and continuing education.
- Performs additional duties, tasks, and projects as assigned.
What We Are Looking For:
- Minimum 4 years of experience in property and casualty insurance.
- Proven experience in account management and marketing.
- Current Property & Casualty (P&C) License is mandatory.
- Ability to independently review information, make decisions, and manage time effectively with minimal supervision.
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Effective in sales, customer service, and team building.
- Proficient in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to travel occasionally, including overnight trips.
