A Day in the Life
Reporting directly to the US Director of FP&A and General Surgical Technologies (GST), the Finance Senior will provide financial planning, analytics and reporting support for the U.S Surgical business. This position will provide key financial insights to inform strategic decisions, drive actions, financial and IBP demand forecasts and annual operating plans. He/she will work closely with the US Commercial leaders and members of the US and Global finance teams responsible for financial planning, analysis and reporting.
Preference is for position to be hybrid at one of the following locations: Boston, MA; New Haven, CT; Lafayette, CO; or Minneapolis, MN. Position will require occasional travel.
Responsibilities:
- Consolidate and prepare all financial reviews including monthly reviews (MRs), quarterly financial reviews (QFRs), rolling forecast and stat plan reviews for the US Surgical Business.
- Compile Latest Best Estimates (LBE) from respective analysts, review and report, taking into consideration actual business performance and previous estimates.
- Report on weekly latest thinking to support the Sales and Operational Execution (S&OE) process.
- Build a solid understanding of the US Surgical business and market, in order to be able to explain variances between actual results and prior year, plan, forecast and outline key risks & opportunities.
- Manage the financial planning calendar to ensure deliverables are met in line with Corporate/ Operating Unit FP&A timelines.
- Ensure Forecast Accuracy in IBP and Financial forecasts on Anaplan and drive accountability within the Commercial organization.
- Collaborate across Surgical Finance/Ops team members to create robust and consistent operating mechanisms for managing analytics and communications across US Surgical.
- Collaborate with Global Finance, IBP to drive optimal and synergistic processes.
- Develop and maintain analytical tools (i.e. price, volume, mix, margin) that provide meaningful insights to drive business performance and execute on strategic & tactical business decisions.
- Actively champion IBP process and reinforce IBP cultural changes within the business.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with 4+ years of work experience in Finance and/or Accounting (Or Advanced Degree with 2+ years).
Nice to Have:
- Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) work experience, including sales expense analytics.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to identify key trends and drivers.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently utilize systems/data to provide insightful analysis and implement recommendations.
- Class III Medical device experience.
- Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple and conflicting deadlines and priorities.
- Strong business acumen: ability to learn/understand the business and influence key stakeholders at various management levels to drive and increase value to the organization.
- High level of initiative and self-motivation.
- Ability to work independently with limited manager oversight.
- Excellent written/oral communication and presentation skills, including the ability to translate financial data into concise information for management.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong working relationships.
- Experience with projects that require high matrix collaboration, building relationships and influence.
- Experience with Medtronic financial systems: SAP, Essbase/Hyperion & Business Objects.
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD): $83,200.00 - $124,800.00. This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
