Under the direction of the Controller, perform a variety of technical accounting duties in the review, reconciliation, and adjustment of assigned general ledger accounts. Prepare, maintain, and assure accuracy of various financial records and reports.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for processing and reconciliation of Bank Account Reconciliations and General Ledger Account Maintenance.
- Perform a variety of technical accounting duties in the review, reconciliation, and adjustment of assigned general ledger accounts; review accounts for errors and propose appropriate adjustments; review, adjust, and assure accuracy of journal entries. Perform various related accounting duties as assigned.
- Reconcile bank statements and other financial documents as required; review data for accuracy and completeness.
- Receive, review and verify a variety of accounting information; input a variety of accounting data into an assigned computer system; generate a variety of computerized lists and reports as requested; maintain automated financial records.
- Communicate with tribal personnel and outside agencies to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns.
- Operate a variety of office equipment including a calculator, copier, fax machine, computer, and assigned software.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Any combination equivalent to: Graduation from high school, college level course work in accounting or related field, and two years clerical accounting experience.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), internet software, and appropriate storage of electronic files.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of classified information.
- Methods, procedures, and terminology used in technical accounting work; general accounting and business functions of a tribal organization; applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Financial and statistical record-keeping techniques.
- Preparation of comprehensive accounting reports.
- Preparation, review, and control of assigned accounts.
