We are looking for a Senior Project Controls Specialist to join our growing Houston office. We are looking for someone who can partner and support our project managers and project directors on large scale complex projects.
The opportunity
- Act as the Commercial Manager to assist the Project Manager in the implementation of project-specific cost control processes to ensure project profitability and other commercial goals are met.
- Provide project management support when necessary.
- Support the Project Manager in preparation of budget estimates, resource plans, contract reviews and assessments.
- Develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) for projects as needed.
- Become a subject matter expert in the financial systems to review, monitor and analyze financial performance, project costs and other performance parameters, assist in determining corrective actions to address poor financial performance.
- Track actual costs against budgets, conduct variance analyses, carry out reporting of project financials and respond to queries from project teams.
- Prepare and update project schedules as needed.
- Support the Project Manager in updating project forecasts on a regular basis to ensure current and accurate reporting of project performance and collaborate closely with Finance.
- Support the Project Manager in monitoring and coordinating scope changes; maintaining change and risk registers, issuing fee proposals; manage contract change orders.
- Issue monthly client commercial packages and monitor accounts receivable as needed.
- Prepare various monthly client reports as needed.
- Assist in sub-consultants management including preparation of sub-consultant agreement, tracking costs, and reviewing invoices and payments.
- Collaborate with the design team to track and compile engineering progress information to assist EV analysis.
The skills
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of design and construction management and experience in design and construction contractual matters.
- Must have experience in the areas of budgeting, financial reporting, cost tracking.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, data manipulation and spreadsheet design to communicate results.
- Experience in Architecture/Engineering/Construction in industries preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills crucial for team-based working.
- Experience in PowerBI and/or Power Automate/Apps for report preparation is preferred.
- Certification as PMP, DBIA, CCM (Commercial & Contract Management Certification) is a plus.

Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Houston is $110,000 to $150,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Houston will differ.
