Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a collaborative individual for our Lead Internal Auditor position, which will plan and execute audits and identify value-added recommendations to strengthen and simplify processes and controls. As a Lead Internal Auditor, a typical day might include the following:
- Apply strong knowledge of accounting and finance principles to audit complex journal entries, account analyses, workpapers, and reconciliations, and coordinate external audits.
- Prepare analysis of financial results requiring evaluation and judgment of complex situations, and provide other support and recommendations for division management.
- Prepare complex analyses including recommendations to management, and/or implement or review internal controls.
- Perform research and planning according to generally accepted accounting principles and/or IFRS, and make recommendations to management.
- Lead special projects.
This job might be for you if:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Innovative, motivated, self-directed.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Strong knowledge of accounting and finance principles, theories, and concepts, and/or strong knowledge of GAAP, Tax, and/or IFRS.
- 6+ years of professional experience in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA, CMA, or CFA; or Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; or MBA.
- Internal audit or public accounting experience.
- Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- International accounting experience.

Pay Range Data
We anticipate filling this position as a Lead Internal Auditor $76,900- $120,300. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the pay range may differ if filled at a different level. Our pay ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
