Neogen is looking to hire a Senior Cost Accountant who will be responsible for performing all necessary analysis and reconciliations to maintain an accurate inventory system as well as performing cost accounting and analysis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
COST ACCOUNTING:
- Responsible for Animal Safety cost accounting functions.
- Conducts analysis of costs, identifies opportunities for cost savings, and leads cost reduction projects.
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies that occur within inventory sub-ledger within ERP.
- Set up new inventory items in ERP.
- Maintain divisional Bills of Materials, ensuring they are current and accurate.
- Assists with preparation of quarterly inventory reserve calculation.
- Draft proforma Bill of Materials for new business opportunities.
- Perform analysis of actual labor versus standards.
- Conduct annual standard cost update.
- Perform month end closing cost of sales analysis.
- Assist with both internal and external audit requests; administer cost accounting-related SOX controls.
- Assist in budget preparations and analysis in regards to product costs.
- Other responsibilities to be defined by Divisional Controller.
INVENTORY CONTROL:
- Participate in divisional efforts in inventory reduction.
- Track scrap and obsolete inventories.
- Schedule and assist with cycle counts.
- Work closely with Operations on physical inventory counts.
- Trouble shoots inventory discrepancies, cycle counts, and other inventory functions as requested.
- Other responsibilities to be defined by the Divisional Controller.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- 3-5 years' experience in cost accounting.
- SAP experience, preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret reports and data. Ability to resolve complaints with suppliers. Ability to effectively present and analyze problem to supervisor and provide recommendation of solutions and meet deadlines.
MATHEMATICAL AND COMPUTER SKILLS:
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel a must. Be able to perform basic math functions.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Good organizational skills are necessary.
