Ohio Farmers Insurance Company - Actuarial Specialist - Seville, Ohio
The Actuarial Specialist is a technical subject matter expert and a thought leader for the actuarial department. This role provides recommendations and leads special actuarial projects. Responsibilities include:
- Applying advanced technical actuarial acumen to design and implement new rating algorithms on Westfield systems.
- Researching and developing best practices pricing techniques to be implemented across the business.
- Estimating unpaid loss and loss expense liabilities using advanced reserving methodologies.
- Directing actuarial projects while applying actuarial skills and knowledge of the Company's insurance products and operations.
- Ensuring accuracy of calculations and analyses, and meeting project deadlines.
- Driving stakeholder engagement and communicating complex analytical business concepts to Actuarial leadership and business partners.
- Leading pricing of new and existing products and collaborating with the Underwriting and Product team.
- Applying advanced actuarial methods to estimate expected losses, cash flows, and risk aggregations.
- Providing actuarial input into portfolio monitoring, business planning, and projections.
- Preparing and reviewing profit analysis and identifying innovative approaches to improve product profitability.
- Communicating product development progress to senior management.
- Leading the development of management reports for monitoring performance and results of company goals.
- Developing and maintaining knowledge of industry activities through seminars, trade journals, and professional affiliations.
- Performing ongoing review and improvements of pricing and processes for greater automation, accuracy, and rate adequacy.
Minimum Requirements:
- 6+ years of Actuarial work experience, primarily in Personal Lines pricing.
- An Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society.
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or a related field and/or commensurate work experience.
