Job Summary Supports the goals and objectives of AMERIND’s Risk Control unit. Advises and works with clients on best practices to reduce loss and protect assets. Conducts analysis to help members and customers identify and control risk. Provides safety training and resources. Brings value and delivers customer service.

Job Responsibilities
- Researches and investigates customer and employee accidents; performs accident statistical analysis; makes recommendations to reduce the incidence of accidents, with review by Risk Control Consultant/Manager.
- Provides written and verbal recommendations on safety procedures, programs, equipment, etc. to members and clients/customers, under review by Risk Control Consultant and with approval of Risk Control Manager.
- Assists with and facilitates training on a variety of topics related to occupational safety, risk management, and loss prevention to various audiences, including members, customers, prospects, employees, and other stakeholders.
- Assists in developing, coordinating and implementing services, programs, and activities to ensure safety measures are in place for clients under supervision from Risk Control Consultant and approval by Risk Control Manager.
- Assists in conducting safety analysis for members as requested; follows through with recommendations.
- Provides consultative loss prevention and risk control services to clients and policyholders.
- Assists clients in identifying preventable losses, evaluating risk exposures and either avoiding or implementing risk control procedures.
- Assists member businesses in identifying and reporting safety concerns or any potential loss of assets.
- Conducts routine inspections of the facility to maintain physical security and protection of assets, loss prevention and camera placements for maximum coverage.
- Assists member businesses to develop company standards related to loss prevention.
- Provides members and customers support and resources for the development of emergency action plans.
- Actively participates in regional functions and establishes ongoing working relationships within communities.
- Maintains proper records following company policies on records retention.
- Participates in claims analysis and investigations with other departments.
- May provide consultation and review for existing coverage not with subject company.
- Conducts claims and underwriting-directed field support.
- Reacts as priority responders for building emergencies, employee accidents, internal investigations, and off-site company functions.
- Keeps abreast of new technologies and principles by conducting research, attending seminars, educational workshops, classes, and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies; and conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations.
- Participates in cross-functional team process improvement projects.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of one-year customer service experience required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Business Management, Insurance, Risk Management, or related field preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Travel required: 25% of time.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation. No felony, theft, or fraud convictions.
Additional Eligibility Requirements - New employees must complete the Associate in Insurance (AINS) designation within six months from the end of the 90-day evaluation period to be eligible for advancement and incentive compensation.
- For continued employment, employees must complete an elective course and six hours of professional development within 12 months after the end of the 90-day evaluation period.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Knowledgeable of standard principles and practices in areas of specialty.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
- Knowledge of department organization, functions, objectives, policies and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing with staff and the public.
- Ability to prioritize, work independently, and accomplish tasks within strict deadlines.
- Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
- Ability to develop, implement, and enforce safety programs and protocols.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel; plan and conduct safety training to individuals and groups and conduct effective meetings.
- Ability to investigate, gather data, compile information, analyze information, draw conclusions, and prepare reports.
- Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs in a Windows environment.
- Skill in preparing, reviewing, and analyzing operational and financial reports.
- Skill in conducting investigations and research.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands - Typical business office setting with moderate noise level and outdoor settings with a high noise level.
- A non-office environment may be encountered for offsite presentations and support of company activities.
- Exposure to natural weather conditions and temperatures, various dusts, smoke and mists, and normal debris and hazards may occur while performing outdoor duties.
- Must be able to sit for work at a computer for more than 6 hours per day.
- Must be able to stand and walk for more than 6 hours per day when on client site or at events.
- Must be able to use hands for dexterity of motion and reach with hands and arms. Extensive use of computer keyboards.
- Frequently required to talk and hear.
- Must have ability to occasionally lift 40+ lbs.
Physical Exam Employee is required to successfully pass an annual physical exam to certify that the employee is capable of performing the physical demands of the job as described above.
