Job Responsibilities
- Supervise the General Accounting team, including selection, training and development, coaching, counseling, and performance management. Provide appropriate career opportunities to ensure the efficient and effective management of all functions, supporting a rapid-growth company.
- Assign, delegate, and coordinate the work of staff to ensure department objectives are met timely.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, ensuring financial statements are prepared timely and accurately for the Containers Business Group (currently 3 divisions).
- Review and post journal entries, review account reconciliations, and respond to inquiries from various departments regarding financial statements and general ledgers.
- Partner with sales, operating, and corporate department leads to understand financial results and capture information needed for budgets and forecasts.
- Perform critical analysis of results to company budgets and forecasts (P&L, BS, Capital, Capex, and Cash Flow) to ensure accuracy and communicate variances to management.
- Assist with interim and annual audits.
- Create and provide ad-hoc financial reports as assigned by management. Influence the accuracy and effectiveness of the P&L statement and monthly reviews through analytical review and trend analysis.
- Drive analytics to identify business issues and opportunities.
- Implement process improvements to reporting and analysis.
- Seek opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy through documented process improvements.
- Lead and participate in interactive, on-site meetings during normal business hours on a regular and predictable basis.
- Participate and support ongoing special projects or ad hoc financial analysis as requested by operations and finance leadership, including acquisition support, software and system implementations, and cost savings initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in accounting.
- 2+ years of supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated competency in financial systems and extensive knowledge of Excel.
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to analyze complex transactions, apply US GAAP, and propose related accounting.
- CPA/MBA in accounting preferred.
- Experience with cloud-based ERP systems (D365, NetSuite) preferred.
