Job Title: Sr. Technical Policy Analyst
Clearance Required: DHS Public Trust, US Citizen
Work Location: Remote; Strong preference for Washington, DC and Northern VA metro area

We are looking for a knowledgeable and skilled Sr. Technical Policy Analyst to join our team and support our work with the United States federal government. This role is essential in ensuring that our agency leverages technologies and tools while maintaining compliance with federal regulations and safeguarding sensitive information.
As a Sr. Technical Policy Analyst, you will help shape our policies and procedures in the ever-evolving landscape of IT security and technology. You will work with senior leaders and clients to assist in the development of enterprise policies, standards, and standard operating procedures governing applications and technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with leadership and stakeholders to create comprehensive policies and guidelines that align with federal regulations, security standards, and best practices
- Monitoring and ensuring compliance with policies, regulations, and standards
- Conducting research and synthesizing information from various sources and preparing detailed reports, briefings, and presentations
- Ensuring policies are comprehensive, clear, and aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Contribute to discussions and planning sessions
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently with a strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
- Understand and share the legal and ethical implications of policies, especially in terms of user privacy, data protection, and artificial intelligence
- Working closely with IT teams, security teams, legal teams, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that cybersecurity policies align with the organization's goals and security requirements
- Writing, updating, editing, developing and/or formatting cybersecurity policies and procedures to formalize policy
- Knowledge of frameworks (NIST, FISMA, ISO, etc.)
- Identify and make recommendations for process and tool improvements
- Evaluate and provide feedback for improvement to document content and processes
- Publish security policies, work with organizational management to ensure accessibility, and ensure changes to policies are promptly and formally communicated
Required Qualifications:
- Education:
- Master's Degree and 8 years of relevant experience in policy analysis, government relations, or related fields; OR
- Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of relevant experience; OR
- No degree and 16 years of relevant experience
- Experience/Skills:
- Mission-driven, team-player mindset
- Experience writing policies, technical standards, and standard operating procedures
- Experience developing policies for Data Governance, Data Risk & Data Quality
- Experience applying cybersecurity and data protection frameworks and regulations such as NIST 800-53, HIPAA, GDPR, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to independently strategize and implement cross-functional policy initiatives
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of change management best practices
- Knowledge of current and emerging cybersecurity and data protection risks
- Knowledge of technology risk management best practices
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
- Ability to assess current and evolving security threats
- Possesses at least one professional certification relevant to the service provided
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge of IT concepts, practices, and procedures
- Experience implementing NIST controls
- Experience developing policies for a federal organization; DHS preferred
