Energy and Sustainability Specialist

ICF is seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated candidate to help federal and state government clients implement and evolve their energy efficiency, decarbonization, and sustainability programs. This position will be based either in our Golden, CO office or Reston, VA headquarters office in a hybrid work environment. Successful candidates will support the implementation of high-profile public-private partnership programs to drive energy efficiency and emissions reductions across government, education, commercial, multifamily, institutional, and industrial markets. They will be part of a team that builds and maintains relationships with key market actors, reviews and analyzes energy, water and emissions data, develops marketing material that recognizes market leadership, and collaborates with other team members and clients to develop national and regional strategies to increase participation in energy and decarbonization programs.
Responsibilities
- Coordinating with clients and other team members to develop local, regional, and national strategies to influence the market and increase participation in voluntary energy and decarbonization programs
- Developing communications, outreach, and training resources, including newsletters, case studies, website content, webinars, and in-person events
- Conducting outreach to energy and sustainability managers
- Supporting partner recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing support to maximize program participation
- Maintaining detailed records in a customer relationship management system
- Conducting research and analysis of energy efficiency, electrification, renewable energy, and decarbonization programs and policies
- Assisting with project management tasks including project deliverables, program staffing and budget management
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (e.g., environmental studies, engineering, public policy, science, business)
- 1+ years of relevant experience in public and/or commercial sector building energy efficiency and sustainability programs
- 1+ years of experience with building utility use benchmarking and ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager
- 1+ years of experience working on energy efficiency for commercial facilities government sustainability offices
Preferred Skills/Experience
- 2 - 4 years of relevant experience in public and/or commercial sector building energy efficiency and sustainability programs
- Experience writing reports, articles, case studies, or other communications materials.
- Experience with ENERGY STAR, DOE Better Buildings/Better Plants, LEED, and/or other efficiency/sustainability tools and program platforms
- Experience in building benchmarking and building energy/emissions performance standards (BBPS)
- Familiarity with the development/delivery of public-private voluntary partnership programs
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and self-motivation
- Excellent analytical skills
- Solid personal computer skills (Microsoft applications, including Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Excel)
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under strict deadlines

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
$47,717.00 - $81,118.00 Nationwide Remote Office (US99)
