With a growing diverse portfolio of quality animal products, Dechra Veterinary Products is seeking an experienced and passionate Financial Accountant to join our team. This role will primarily be responsible for providing financial support to the Australia and NZ businesses, in all areas of financial and account management. This is a full-time position, based in Somersby with a hybrid working structure.
Role Responsibility
The Challenge
So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied remit and the successful candidate’s key responsibilities will include:
- Assist in controlling and posting General Ledger transactions
- Complete key operational finance activities i.e. monthly closing activities and reconciliations (GIT / intercompany, GRNI, prepayments, bank)
- Support with the finance requirements in relation to payroll and inputs into the ATO (Australia) and IRD (New Zealand) portals as required
- Lodgement of all relevant tax items with the ATO for Australia and IRD for New Zealand
- Support the Finance Controller with company leases, relevant accounting and controls
- Monitoring of the fixed asset registers in both countries
- Assist with cashflow forecasting and monthly actuals reconciliations and analysis, monitoring and driving working capital metrics (inventory, AR and AP)
- Support Financial Controller and Head of Finance in liaisons with external auditors
- Data steward responsibility and ensuring new customers and suppliers compliance
- Reconciliation and posting of company credit card expenditure / expense claims
- Ad-hoc Finance projects and other duties as required
The Ideal Candidate
About You

- Minimum 4 years experience in a similar finance or accounting position.
- Tertiary qualifications in finance or accounting
- CPA or CA qualified (or working toward) would be highly regarded but not essential
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
- Sound experience of Microsoft Office, Power BI and ERP systems
- Demonstrated time management skills
- Proactive approach to learning and strong analytical skills
- Unrestricted working rights in Australia
