Chapel Worship Assistant

Brief Description:
Worship Assistants learn to design liturgy for a diverse Fuller community. Worship Assistants provide musical and pastoral leadership for assigned chapel services for both an online and in-person community.
Essential Functions:
Planning
- Worship Assistants design and plan chapel liturgy for both the residential and online campus using the Planning Center Online program.
- Worship Assistants select and lead the music for Chapel (including rehearsal and preparation of charts and arrangements for musicians).
- Worship Assistants assist in evaluating and brainstorming all service plans during Monday Morning Meetings.
Liturgical Leadership
- Lead in musical worship in assigned chapels in person and online.
- Lead in pastoral leadership (prayers, opening welcome, etc.) in assigned chapels in person and online.
- Attend, lead, and participate in all rehearsals.
- Participate in coffee & conversation after chapel services.
Administrative Tasks
- Preparation of musical charts and arrangements for rehearsals on assigned days.
- Prepare and upload liturgy and song lyrics for the production team on assigned days; liturgy must be appropriate for both residential and online communities.
- Communicate with the sound engineer the stage layout and input list on assigned days.
- Participation in weekly staff planning meetings and production meetings.
- Recruiting volunteers (staff, students, faculty, and alumni) for participation in different liturgical moments.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Must be a current Fuller student, Fuller learner, or alumni of Fuller.
- Capacity to learn quickly and desire to expand knowledge of worship music and worship design.
- Experience leading worship in diverse contexts is highly desired.
- Ability to read charts and play a musical instrument preferred.
- Ability to write, design, and create liturgy preferred.
- Ability to work independently and also work effectively as a member of a team.
- Ability to speak Spanish, Korean, or Mandarin preferred.
- Willing to participate in leadership on other occasions as available (i.e., special Chapels and events).
- Proficient with Google Calendar, Google Docs, CCLI/Song Select, and Planning Center Online.
- Able to transport materials and equipment up to 20 pounds.
Additional Information:
- All applicants selected will need to participate in a musical audition.
- Must be willing to attend a 1-day training/organization retreat in the Fall (date TBD).
- Candidates must make a commitment for the entire school year (available Monday mornings, 9:30 – 11:30; Wednesday mornings from 8:00 – 11:30; Friday mornings from 8:30 – 11:30).
- Must be willing to abide by Fuller Community Standards.
- This position requires work to be done physically on the Pasadena, CA campus.
Pay Scale:
- Hourly rate the seminary expects to pay: $25.00 per hour.
