Overview
This position performs industrial hygiene (IH) oversight of work in a field environment. Duties will include assisting the senior IH with job functions as assigned.
The Industrial Hygienist will assist with all Industrial Hygiene work planning, assist in Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) development and review, review and provide field validation and implementation of all Industrial HygieneProgram procedures and assist and support management in ensuring the monitoring, controls and processes for reducing and controlling chemical, biological, and physical hazards are in compliance with all applicableprocedures, policies, contractual/operational requirements, safety guidelines, OSHA, DOE Orders and local, state and federal regulations. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities that assist andsupport line management.

Core Duties
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform chemical exposure monitoring, noise surveys, lead based paint surveys and/or microbial inspections and sampling in a variety of settings
- Provide technical assistance on IH and safety compliance for a wide range of experimental, research, construction and facility operational projects.
- Provide technical training and mentoring to staff for various programs (respiratory protection, confined space, hearing conservation, etc.)
- Prepare written reports and documentation of field activities and inspections.
- Conduct field data collection, inspections, and investigations.
- Perform field assessments for chemical, thermal, noise, etc.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field. Experience may substitute for education.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- 1-3 years of Industrial Hygiene experience at commercial facilities and/or DOE facilities.
- Familiar in the use of industrialhygiene sampling equipment.
- Must be able to perform required job functions while wearing personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection.
- Able to review work planning documents; write routine reports and correspondence; effectively present information and respond to questions; perform required mathematical calculations, stay current with regulatory requirements and industry guidelines.
- Must have work experience in the detection and control of occupational hazards.
- Ability to multitask, maintain flexibility and work independently.
- Background in Occupational and Construction Safety desirable.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including generatingtraining presentations, technical reporting, and other written correspondence.
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
- Ability to work off-normal hours as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Must be capable of accessing all work areas in order to physically view work practices and conduct inspections. This may involve bending, climbing, and kneeling.
- Must be able to periodically lift up to 25 lbs, additionally ascending and descending ladders.
Working Conditions
- Most duties will be in industrial field setting. Occasional work outdoors, in varying weather, to include heat and cold may be required.
