Position Summary
Contributes to the Specialty Oncology and Rare Disease portfolio, leveraging pharmacy experience and pharmacist skills to augment product designs and goals, ensuring program effectiveness, quality and positive outcomes for clients, providers and patients. Contributes to quality improvement initiatives, ensures patient safety and enhances overall healthcare outcomes through expert clinical pharmacy services. Requires a Pharmacist license, but does not actively dispense prescriptions to patients/customers/members.
Responsibilities
- Assists the Director with development of a product roadmap targeting oncology drugs and high cost rare disease treatments across both the pharmacy and medical benefits.
- The Clinical Advisor will evaluate, develop, and manage cost management programs to promote the delivery of high-quality, safe, and effective drugs, treatments, procedures and patient care.
- Evaluates the level of clinical research competency and the extent of research knowledge and technology available and needed to achieve the desired quality of operations and experience for patients and providers.
- Assists in the development of tools and processes including enhancements towards our PA platforms, other technology platforms and operational models to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of clinical and quality monitoring.
- Collaborates with Analysts to conduct high-level analyses taking into consideration standards of practice and financial impact.
- Provides expertise in the development of new policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Leads and supports clinical training and coaching to internal teams to ensure industry-proven best practices are instilled within the company's strategies and end product offerings. Training may extend to providers and their office teams.
- Supports the manager with identifying growth and quality improvement opportunities, helps to define product vision, and setting strategic goals for the product strategy portfolio by analyzing market trends, customer, provider and member needs, and the competitive landscape.
- Prioritizes initiatives, defines product features and enhancements, and ensures alignment with client commitments, market demands and business objectives.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including product managers, Clinical, Sales, Trade, Underwriting, Marketing, Provider teams and IT, to develop and communicate an innovative product roadmap.
Required Qualifications
3+ years Health Plan, PBM and/or Managed Care experience.
2+ years Product Development and/or Utilization Management exp.
5+ years’ experience as a pharmacist/ pharmacy residency experience may substitute for years’ experience.
Licensed Pharmacist in State of residence in good standing
Advanced knowledge of problem solving and decision-making skills
Strong multi-tasking abilities with the ability to handle competing deadlines; flexible and adaptable.
Advanced communication skills used to lead a team.
Advanced execution and delivery (planning, delivering, and supporting) skills
Ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate option.
Ability to handle sensitive information ethically and responsibly.
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years Specialty product experience
2+ years experience with oncology and/or rare disease product management
Education
Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy OR PharmD
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$90,382.50 - $259,560.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
