The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing radiographic mammograms by the application of ionizing radiation to produce quality radiographs as would be required under a variety of conditions.

Principal Responsibilities
- Must have one-month on-the-job training mammography.
- Produce quality mammograms and be able to perform requests for special views.
- Prepare files for radiologist to read.
- Obtain outside previous or comparison exams.
- Obtain complete history from patients.
- Keep log of all patients.
- Good knowledge of breast anatomy.
- Help out in the main department when time allows.
- Must be able to adapt to flexible working hours.
- Recall patients that require additional imaging.
- Make sure images have been pushed from PACS to Sectra workstation.
- Perform Quality Assurance testing on equipment as required.
- Operate dry laser printer.
- Schedule diagnostic breast exams.
- Be familiar with mammography protocols for all radiologists.
- Proof-read mammogram reports in RIS for errors and have corrections made.
- Generate BIRADS letters to be sent to patients.
- Burn CD from Sectra for biopsies.
- Demonstrate professional behavior with patients and employees.
- Maintain positive attitude in working to achieve department goals.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
- Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
- Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
- Provide excellent customer service and adhere to SC Way customer service philosophy.
Education/Experience
- Must be a graduate of an approved A.C.R school.
Licenses/Certificates
- Must have current licensure with the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety.
- CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire.
- Must be registered and in good standing in both Radiography and Mammography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. If transitioning internally from a Radiologic Tech position, will also accept successful completion of a Mammography Tech program, ARRT-Radiography, and successful registration as ARRT-Mammography within two years of hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to assist patient to and from mammography unit.
