Job Summary and Qualifications
We are looking for a compassionate and reliable OR Surgical Technologist to provide technical support to patients of all populations. · You will assist the circulating nurse in setting up the room ensuring presence and proper functioning of all necessary equipment and instruments.
· You will participate in sponge, needle, and instrument counts, ready sutures, and pass all instruments, equipment, sponges, medications, etc. to surgeons and assistants as needed and/or requested.
· You will pass specimens from the surgeon to the circulating nurse and be responsible for specimens while on the field.
· You will perform related duties including but not limited to: assisting in cleaning and stocking; picking cases for the next day; housekeeping duties; and attending staff meetings. You will be directly involved in room turnover between cases.
· You will work as a collaborative member of the OR team. Demonstrate the ability to adjust to different situations at any given time. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team on the field and take direction from the circulating nurse.
What qualifications you will need:
- Completion of a Surgical Technician Course.
- Must hold a current Surgical Technologist Certification and License through the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Two years of OR scrubbing experience, preferably in CVOR, is preferred.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
