As a Patient Services Representative for Aurora Behavioral Healthcare San Diego, you’ll facilitate the orderly admission of patients to the organization, balancing the patient's comfort and ease with the organization's operating needs and financial goals.
*Pay Range: $21/hr. to $30/hr.
Full Time Work Schedule :
- Sunday to Saturday, 8 hours, Variable working hours from (7:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.)
Responsibilities
- Effectively manages the patient check-in and check-out process from start to finish, which includes identification verification; updating or confirming demographic and insurance information on every patient; ensuring appropriate forms are provided, signed and witnessed at the time of the patient visit; collecting patient payment responsibility and accurately preparing end of day reporting or payment reconciliation as needed.
- Responsible for interacting with patients, payers and providers to gather information necessary for accurate registration including assigning of appropriate Medical Record Number
- Verify patient insurance benefits verbally and send written documentation to insurance company.
- Receives and processes physician's order for patient admission and completes related admission procedures; obtains patient and other required signatures on voluntary admission or commitment papers; obtains various releases, including: patient activity participation, school records and immunization records (if child or adolescent), information to referral sources, physician billing, insurance, and Utilization Review companies.
- Obtain pre-authorization for admission when needed. Completes face sheet; assigns patient identification number.
- Conducts actual admissions during regular hours; checks documentation on after hour admissions.
- Answer numerous daily telephone calls from patients, insurance companies, and others.
- Maintains supplies required for admitting purposes
- Establish and maintain positive inter and intra- departmental working relationship.
- Participates in activities which enhance professional growth and development.
- Demonstrates conduct in keeping with Aurora ethical standards.
- Complies with facility safety, infection control and security programs
- Supports facility internal and external customer service standards.
- Responds to customer billing and payment inquires as needed.
- Escalating billing inquiries as needed
Requirements
- 1 year experience in a healthcare facility
- Medical Terminology & Medical Billing Knowledge preferred
