Speech-Language Pathologist

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team at a special program located in Melrose Park, IL. This position involves working with a caseload of approximately 10 kindergarten students with various needs related to autism spectrum disorders. The SLP will work in a single classroom for the entire day, allowing for consistent and focused support.
Program Highlights:
- Setting: You’ll be in one room with a maximum of 10 students, all of whom are kindergarteners. These are the coordinators' favorite students, with varying needs related to autism spectrum disorders. The students do not exhibit significant behavioral challenges.
- Team: You’ll be working with a dream team of experienced staff, including the same teacher and three paraprofessionals who have been with the program since last year.
- Curriculum: The program utilizes the ULS curriculum and implements a total language communication program that recognizes points, gestures, and behaviors as forms of communication. Some students are using AAC devices and TouchChat to enhance their language and communication skills.
- Collaboration: The SLP will provide language support throughout the day, leading group activities and co-teaching with the classroom teacher. You will have planning and prep time during specials, and the paraprofessionals will accompany students during these times.
- Support Services: The program includes a Social Worker who pushes in twice a week and an OT who comes once a week. There’s also a full sensory room and sensory time incorporated into the schedule.
- Language Skills: Knowledge of Spanish is a significant plus, as the classroom has a majority of Spanish-speaking families. The teacher is ELL certified, and two of the paraprofessionals are Spanish-speaking.

Compensation:
Full salary paid weekly $55,000 - $70,000 based on experience.
Hours:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:45 PM.
Speech-Language Pathologist Duties:
- Complete evaluations to assess speech needs and areas of growth
- Provide direct and indirect speech and language services to students
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and classroom teachers to meet the students’ communication needs
- Facilitate staff and community training in the area of communication disorders
Speech-Language Pathologist Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Communication Disorders
- IDFPR license eligible in the state of Illinois
- Professional Educator License (PEL) eligible in the state of Illinois
