OverviewResponsibilitiesActs as a technical resource in adult and pediatric echocardiography. Oversees technical procedures and quantitative portions of echocardiography reports, and coordinates inpatient work flow to ensure safe and effective patient care. Orients all new echocardiography laboratory technicians in all clinical areas, instruct technical and professional staff in current practices.
- Maintains a high level of technical skills of the Cardiopulmonary Technologist - Echocardiography Laboratory.
- Oversees the daily operation of the echocardiography laboratory and directs work flow to ensure safe and effective patient care.
- Evaluates echocardiography studies performed in the laboratory and assures technically adequate exams by providing necessary expertise and instruction to obtain difficult views when necessary.
- Dismisses inpatients/outpatients after determining that their echocardiography exams are technically adequate and direct technicians to recall a patient for further views in order to a complete a study.
- Develops and implements a continuing education program, focusing on identified areas where improvement is needed.
- Assists writing, updating, and maintaining orientation or procedure manual for different areas of expertise in the echocardiography laboratory.
- Trains and orients new employees and provides necessary assistance and education materials, articles, etc. to assist staff in preparing for RDMS certification. Acts as primary instructor for trainees from outside institutions.
- Provides information regarding the condition of equipment, and acts as alternate contact and resource person to Bio-Medical in the absence of the chief echocardiography technologist.
- Provides input regarding performance levels of staff.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Shifts can include full or half days.
Qualifications- Associates Degree with 3 years of cardiac echo experience required.
Required Licensure/Certifications
- RDMS certification in adult, pediatric, and fetal echocardiography. - BCLS certified. - Licensed by the Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy in the state of New Hampshire.
