Position Summary
The Financial Analyst will be an integral part of the FP&A team ensuring data integrity of the financial statements and their supporting systems through Budget and Forecast cycles.
Essential Duties
- Ensures the accuracy of the monthly financial reporting package, which is comprised of a DataRails (ERP) database and a comprehensive Excel-based package including currently 20+ organizations.
- Prepare complete financials including balance sheet, income statement, cash flow and various other reports.
- The financial analyst will take ownership of the package to ensure data integrity, accuracy and timeliness.
- Analyzes actual results and makes comparisons to budget and historical trends.
- Analyzes working capital for all entities and identifies opportunities for improvement.
- Works closely with the FP&A team and the business leaders to assess business performance and identify opportunities to increase profitability.
- Analyzes and provides explanations for COGS variances, including inventory adjustments.
- Reconciles financial line items, such as sales, to the general ledger.
- Assists with budget and forecasts, including creation and monthly analysis.
- Performs other related duties as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but will be expected to work closely with Finance, Accounting and Business leaders.
Required Skills/Abilities
- High attention to detail is a must.
- Advanced data mining and MS Excel skills including lookups, pivot tables and macros.
- Moving data through ODBC connections.
- SQL/Oracle language experience helpful.
- Proven experience in an accounting / finance department environment.
- Distribution or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Knowledge of basic accounting procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
- BS degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum 3 years accounting experience.
- Computer skills required: ERP Software; Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Requirements
The physical requirements for this position are typical for a sedentary office environment, including considerable time spent in a stationary position, at a desk using a computer terminal and keyboard. Movement about the office and standing are required occasionally.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment for this position is typical for an office including protection from weather conditions and typical office equipment noise.
