Description
The Senior Accountant will work with Fervo’s Controller to help build Fervo’s accounting organization. Fervo currently has executed PPAs requiring the deployment of $400 million over the next several years and is seeking a proven accounting professional to help establish the internal control framework, accounting policies, and procedures. This is a unique opportunity to help build Fervo’s accounting department from the ground up. The successful Senior Accountant combines excellent analytical skills, a thorough knowledge of accounting principles, and experience in coordinating the activities of the accounting staff. The ideal candidate has prior experience in overseeing operational accounting, general ledger activities, including month-end close, and preparation of financial statements. This position will report to the Accounting Manager.
Responsibilities
- Help establish, document, and maintain internal controls (IPO readiness/SOX Framework) and proper policies for financial reporting and accounting functions.
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including month-end close for general ledger and planning the overall month-end close process.
- Perform general accounting functions, including recurring manual journal entries, account reconciliations, and accounts analysis.
- Support operational accounting team, including review and process improvements.
- Prepare monthly invoices for submission to customers.
- Prepare grant invoices as needed and assist with grant compliance reporting.
- Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Lead analytical reviews for all areas of accounting and resolution of any issues identified.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals.
- Assist with special projects and ad-hoc reports.
- Assist in developing application system controls for ensuring data integrity.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of general ledger accounting experience.
- Experience in accounting for an exploration and production or power company.
- Extensive knowledge of US GAAP.
- Experience in preparation of financial accounting statements and notes.
- Experience with overseeing general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Must be self-directed and work with minimum supervision.
- Motivated, with strong work ethic, detail-oriented, and willingness to “get in the weeds.”
- Ability to prioritize work, communicate tasks, and motivate personnel.
- Demonstrated high level of flexibility, adaptability, and multi-tasking to meet deadlines.
