Job Overview
In this role as a Business Analyst with an added focus on data engineering, you will assist in developing, deploying, and supporting various Digital Foundation (DF) initiatives and Smart Manufacturing applications. Your role will involve traditional business analysis tasks and working closely with data engineering technologies and practices. You should have a solid customer-facing background, with experience in the manufacturing process (food and beverage industry preferred but optional) and be comfortable working with team members across different time zones.
Your primary responsibility will be to work closely with business users to define problem statements/requirements, create and review mapping documents for data engineers, perform data analysis, manage data integration and quality checks, and ensure that data structures are designed effectively for analytical needs.
Responsibilities
- Participate in scrum calls to align with stakeholders on requirements, data strategies, and action plans.
- Gather and translate business requirements into data models, data flow diagrams, and specifications for various Smart Manufacturing initiatives.
- Contribute to the design, development, configuration, and validation of new product features, focusing on data integration and architecture.
- Support ongoing data function initiatives, including data warehousing, data lakes, and big data platforms.
- Assist plants in identifying, mapping, and onboarding Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and ensuring data pipelines are built and maintained to support these KPIs.
- Proactively identify, analyze, and troubleshoot data-related issues: accuracy, consistency, delays, etc., including data pipeline debugging and optimization.
- Collaborate with the Digital Foundation team and data engineers in identifying dependencies and data requirements for new features and ongoing initiatives.
- Advocate for data quality, integrity, and reliability throughout the organization.
Skills And Qualifications
- Business analysis and exposure to the manufacturing/CPG domains are necessary.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience in database management or data warehousing technologies is required.
- Familiarity with data engineering tools and practices, such as ETL processes, data modeling, and data pipeline management.
- Exposure to Azure DevOps, cloud data services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks), and agile ways of working is required.
- Prior experience in OSI PI configuration, data integration, and troubleshooting is desirable. Knowledge of data visualization tools like Microsoft Power BI and familiarity with Microsoft PowerApps and SharePoint is desirable.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Pay
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Fractal, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $96,000 - $135,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus for the current performance period.
