Overview
We are looking for a Senior Analyst to join our Sourcing team, supporting the customs HTS classification process. You will serve as a key member of a team responsible for being the subject matter expert in apparel, footwear, and accessories HTS classification for importation.
You will partner closely with our Sourcing team through the pre-production process to guide duty engineering and identify possible areas for duty savings. This is a highly collaborative role responsible for education and partnership with our Design and Production teams. This role will also partner with our customs brokerage and Customs Compliance team on special product categories and imports.
Responsibilities:
- Classify all products within the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) framework for J.Crew, J.Crew Factory, Crewcuts, and Madewell.
- Research discrepancies and provide substantiation to support classification claims to U.S. Customs authorities.
- Conduct and manage audits of key product lines for HTS accuracy.
- Develop and maintain JCG Corporate Duty Rate Chart.
- Educate teams on legal purpose of the HTS process and duty engineering opportunities.
- Prepare and present two (2) classification and duty seminars per year.
- Identify opportunities for continuous process improvements and implement solutions.
- Uphold best practices to ensure J.Crew Group is in full compliance with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Partner Government Agency (PGA) regulations.
Key Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), General Notes (GNs), GRI principles, Explanatory Notes (ENs).
- Strong understanding of import processes, laws, and regulations such as customs valuation, Free Trade Agreements (FTA), country of origin, rules of origin, entry documentation, Chapter 98 and 99 provisions.
- Exercise independent judgment to problem solve, making timely and accurate determinations.
- Highly-developed analytical skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of a corporation, in a cross-functional environment.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Proficiency in business software applications, spreadsheets, and systems including PLM, Power BI, SAP, etc.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 4 - 6 years of experience working in a trade compliance or related function with a focus on Apparel, Footwear, and Accessories HTS classification.
- Experience in apparel production environment a plus.
- Licensed Customs Broker and/or Certified Customs Specialist desirable but not required.

Salary Range: $72,500.00 - $87,000.00
