Overview of the Manager, Revenue Cycle Management role
The Manager, Revenue Cycle Management directs and coordinates overall functions of the billing and coding team. This includes accurately coding diagnoses and procedures, preparing and submitting claims, and managing accounts receivable. The role requires initiative, independence and drive, an ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and an ability to perform a wide variety of duties.
Responsibilities of the Manager, Revenue Cycle Management role
- Collaborates across multiple teams to research, analyze and configure complex data sources according to business needs
- Determines appropriate ICD/CPT codes after reviewing medical information, physician treatment plans, courses, and outcomes
- Manages billing and collections efforts, track accounts receivable, and ensure partners are billed correctly
- Manages the full claims process ensuring that claims, denials and appeals are processed efficiently, and billing-related issues are resolved
- Proactively identifies problems/issues concerning data accuracy and data integrity
- Collaborates with Engineering and Data/Analytics teams to assure effective provider data management
- Completes audits of medical records, claims and corresponding codes billed to identify anomalies in provider billing practices, opportunities for documentation training and process improvement
- Tracks AR productivity (charge, payments, collections, adjustments) on a daily, weekly and/or monthly basis
- Manages coding and billing staff, including hiring, training, completing performance evaluations, and addressing issues
- Identifies problem areas or situations, evaluate root cause, and take appropriate action to resolve issues
- Communicates with stakeholders to improve coding, billing and collections
- Adheres to Wayspring information security and privacy requirements
- Adepts with Microsoft Office products
Requirements of the Manager, Revenue Cycle Management
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or related healthcare field, or equivalent work experience
- 3-5 years of experience in medical billing with value-based care experience preferred
- Experience with Athena EMR
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Professional Coder-Hospital (COC), a plus
- The ability to analyze and interpret data through analysis
- Experience working with large data repositories and/or relational databases
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision
- Highly self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail
- Strong organizational qualities and the ability to work in cross-functional teams
- Ability to quickly adapt to changes in both technology and business environments
- Strong customer service and positive attitude
Preferred Qualifications
- Health plan or value-based care experience
- An appetite for learning and self-improvement
- Start-up, healthcare services, healthcare IT, and/or entrepreneur skills a plus
