The Portfolio Associate will be responsible for assisting in the management of the grant and contract application and post-award process. This role will provide financial stewardship of a portfolio of grants and contracts for sponsored research and present financial information and recommendations through data analysis and reporting while developing and maintaining budgets.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing appropriate guidance on compliance matters during management of the portfolio and collaborating with account holders to maintain such compliance.
- Identifying trends and variances through the development of reports such as forecast and trend analyses.
- Analyzing budgets to ensure appropriate charging of expenses and integration of data, and developing complex analytical reports for principal investigators, including trend analysis and variance analyses.
- Developing proposals and budgets for grant and contract submissions and coordinating with partnering institutions.
- Reviewing, interpreting, and effectively applying sponsor policies on a variety of topics to ensure compliance with sponsoring agency requirements and University policies.
- Interacting with faculty and internal and external contacts to help manage the internal pre-award proposal process and the management of sponsored funding.
The Portfolio Associate role is a 12-18 month program that focuses on accelerating the development of Grant Accountants while creating a pipeline of high-performing talent. The role will span various financial components while combining specialized training, unique job assignments, and interactive experiences to equip you with exceptional technical, financial, and business skills.
Required Skills:
- Ability to understand and work with financial and payroll activity from multiple sources.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to cultivate and maintain strong working partnerships and communicate with faculty and staff.
- Demonstrated understanding of continual process improvement and data-driven process monitoring and decision-making.
- Excellent attendance; ability to work independently and be self-motivated with strong attention to accuracy and confidentiality.
- Superior computer skills with specific knowledge and ability with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other similar software.
Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree required with no demonstrated experience necessary.
Work Week: Standard (M-F equal number of hours per day)
