Superior is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team in Houston, TX.
The Senior Accountant performs complex accounting functions with respect to periodic closing schedules to include fixed asset transactions and maintenance of fixed asset records, balance sheet reconciliations, journal entry preparation, and generation of vendor payment and reconciliation of these files to bank files.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs complex accounting transactions in accordance with corporate financial standards and GAAP driving completion in an accurate and timely manner
- Manages fixed asset capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and sale of assets within subsidiaries
- Performs vendor payment proposals, monitors files returned by the bank, researches any errors reported by the bank, and works with business units and/or master data to resolve errors
- Performs monthly account reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial reporting
- Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and/or inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports findings
- Provides/performs ad-hoc analysis and/or assignments at management’s discretion

Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar field is required
Knowledge & Experience
- 4 plus years of experience directly related to the duties & responsibilities specified
- Experience in the Oil & Gas or Energy industry is a plus
- Driven to provide a high level of accuracy while meeting on-time delivery requirements and supporting a strong internal control environment
- History of enacting efficiencies and driving change
- Demonstrable experience with fixed assets accounting and general accounting
- CPA candidate preferred
Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge in GAAP
- Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of ERP systems – preferably Dynamics AX
- Ethical business practices
- Results oriented with the ability to see how individual tasks affect the big picture
- Accurately complete/maintain necessary reports/records in a timely and legible manner, according to applicable procedures
- Ability to detect problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid resolutions
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, peers & employees
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
