Job Description
Responsible for managing a team of portfolio managers which invests assets for high-net worth and ultra-high-net worth individuals, trusts, endowments and foundations in a manner consistent with the established investment objectives and strategies of the company and/or the client. Individual will be responsible for driving growth within the market through dynamic leadership, ensuring accountability for investment and regulatory compliance amongst portfolio managers, and will inspire both fellow employees and clients with exceptional communication skills. This position will also have the responsibility for direct oversight of a limited number of client relationships. In particular, the managing director will focus their team on the expansion of existing client relationships, minimization of client attrition, and the development of new client relationships. Portfolio Managers are key participants in securing new client business, with senior level Portfolio Managers often managing the most complex and largest relationships. Counsel clients within the market on complex traditional and alternative investments and implement investment strategy through customized trading activity.
Essential Responsibilities:
Manage a team of portfolio managers responsible for investment management of individual and/or trust account assets to maximize investment return commensurate with an acceptable level of risk. Drive business growth by having their team acquire new clients, expand existing client relationships or minimize client attrition. Be responsible for employee development, advocacy, problem solving, and hiring within the Wisconsin PWM market. Assist in the development and implementation of short and/or long-term investment policies and strategies based on management investment philosophy and customer investment objectives. Keep informed of developments in investment markets, using fundamental and/or technical research to arrive at sound and timely investment decisions, and be comfortable to presenting to clients and prospects in group settings. Support the market with new business development, relationship management, marketing and prudent investment decision making. Assist senior portfolio managers with major accounts, and have the ability to manage a relatively small individual book of business. Actively ensure compliance with the U.S. Bank Code of Ethics and all Anti-Money Laundering, Bank Secrecy Act, information security and suspicious activity reporting requirements, policies and procedures. Actively participate in any required corporate and business line training in these areas. Follow account opening procedures and understand and follow internal suspicious activity referral requirements and processes, as required for this position. Actively work with customers to understand each customer's normal account activity, as appropriate for this position.
Accountabilities:
Responsible for the management of the PWM investment personnel in the state of Wisconsin. Drive growth for the market by working to assess and develop our investment personnel, partner with other market discipline leaders, and manage the business unit in alignment with regional and national business goals and practices. Assist with the management of the larger and potentially more complex and important investment accounts. Develop, recommend, and direct the execution of investment programs designed to achieve the objectives of a group of client accounts by all of this individual’s direct reports. Will be responsible for talent identification, hiring and development, and will serve as an investment leader within the Midwest region with other fellow investment managing directors.
Basic Qualifications:
1. 12+ years of investment management experience.
2. BA/MBA in finance, accounting, or other investment related field.
3. CFP or CFA designation, or progress toward preferred.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
5. Well-developed analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
6. History or desire to lead and grow a team of investment professionals as the primary focus of this role.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
