The Director of Accounting position is responsible for overseeing the accounting department personnel and working to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) regulations and Traveling Teams Inc.’s standard operating procedures.
Director of Accounting Summary:
The Director of Accounting shall represent the company’s brand image and deliver exceptional leadership. This position requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including third-party vendors, hotel managers, accounting personnel, and other operational departments.
This position manages all internally-established standard operating procedures (SOPs). This entails developing and managing streamlined accounting processes, implementing industry best practices, and maintaining internal quality controls.
The Director of Accounting also must facilitate the training and development of accounting personnel, satisfactory team productivity, and procedural compliance. This position is integral to timely collections, payments, and financial reporting/analysis.
The Director of Accounting position requires people management characteristics, leadership/coaching skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and prior end-to-end accounting experience.
The Director of Accounting works hand-in-hand with our external accounting firm.

General Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage and deliver enthusiastic, hands-on, supportive leadership to department personnel.
- Demonstrate a proven track record of driving and managing high-performing teams that meet or exceed deadlines.
- Oversee financial statement preparation, including balance sheets, invoices, accounts payable and receivable aging reports, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Conduct preventive internal audits and comply with external audit requirements upon request.
- Oversee daily operations on a high volume of assigned accounts.
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the accounting and bookkeeping administrative functions.
- Monitor and analyze employee performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective action measures.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting regulations and industry best practices.
- Support continuous improvement efforts departmentally to achieve short- and long-term goals.
- Review and analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and resolve any issues/errors.
- Verify the accuracy of points statements/invoices and take corrective action as needed.
- Maintain communication with vendors and clients regarding payment status.
- Enter key data of financial transactions into databases and spreadsheets.
- Process monthly expense reports and credit card reconciliations.
- Administer disciplinary investigations and follow-up action – in coordination with other department managers and HR – against employees when standard operational procedures are not being met.
- Structure and host team meetings, training sessions, and 1:1 employee performance conversations.
- Perform all other daily duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to work in-office 40+ hours per week (Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., with extended hours as required based on business needs).

- Ability to coach and discipline employees as appropriate and necessary.
- Demonstrates initiative and leadership qualities.
- Familiarity with CRM and business enterprise systems, such as QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop and Acumatica.
- Proficient in MS Office, with advanced Excel skills.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
- 5-7 years in an accounting position with 3+ years of prior people management experience.
