Processes repetitive and non-repetitive, clerical accounting transactions which require specific knowledge of a wide variety of prescribed accounting codes and classifications.
Responsibilities
- Reviews source documents, such as invoices, purchase orders, vendor emails, P.O.D.'s, for completeness and accuracy.
- Enters vendor invoice information into Lawson for upload into the general accounting system.
- Reconciles errors on source documents to maintain accounting records.
- Communicates billing discrepancies to Purchasing and other University of Utah Health departments.
- Requests and secures payment approvals for high-dollar service purchases.
- Scans and indexes source documents for University of Utah Health management review.
- Works with vendors to help reconcile vendor receivable accounts to University of Utah Health payable accounts.
- Works with receiving personnel to resolve duplicate shipments.
- Expedites check requests for employee reimbursements and other payables.
- Sets up new vendors according to prescribed procedure and maintains vendor file with name, address, and contact information changes.
- Performs special tasks assigned by management following prescribed accounting routines.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
- Ability to use standard office machines, calculators, and computer applications.
- Knowledge of basic math and accounting.

- Effective communication and human relations skills.
Qualifications (Preferred)
Preferred
- Accounts Payable (AP)
- One year of experience performing accounting functions and preparing related reports.

- This is a sedentary position that may exert up to 10 pounds and may lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. This position involves sitting most of the time and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
