We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team in Houston! The Senior Accountant will support the Controller and Leadership team by combining excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles. This position is responsible for providing timely and accurate reporting of the financial operations of assigned locations. This includes financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audits, and cash management.
Responsibilities
- Assist with monthly close process
- Maintain the general ledger
- Reconcile bank accounts
- Prepare monthly journal entries, including moderate to complex supporting calculations
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliation, including timely resolution of errors and issues
- Preparation of month-end financial reports
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual financial statement analysis, including variance and flux explanations
- Prepare ad hoc analysis and projects as assigned
- Prepare and maintain procedural documentation as needed for assigned responsibilities
- Maintain fixed asset system of assigned entities which includes preparation of journal entries for fixed asset additions, disposals, transfers, splits and monthly depreciation. Monthly reconciliation of fixed asset ledger to general ledger and asset roll forward schedule
- Prepare and post lease entries and reconcile to general ledger for assigned entities
- Assist in external audits including preparation of work papers and analyses as needed. Assist with documenting processes and procedures
- Upload bi-weekly payroll from Paycom general ledger into the accounting system, reconciling upload errors and preparing and posting journal entries
Requirements
- Working knowledge of computer accounting software (Sage and Quick Books a plus). Microsoft applications
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workload with minimal supervision
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment that is deadline-driven
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance
- 3+ years experience (multi-location environment is a plus)
- Experience with general ledger accounting practices, policies, and audit requirements
- Basic knowledge of GAAP
- Ability to interact and communicate with all levels of staff
