Lead Program Management Specialist:
Duke Energy is executing one of the nation’s largest generation fleet transitions with a focus on clean, reliable, and affordable energy in areas of rapidly economic growth. The Lead Portfolio Management Specialist will report to Director, Strategic Projects and Portfolio Management and will focus on the portfolio and programs for the generation transition capital projects. Working with Duke Energy internal cross-functional teams and program owners, the Portfolio Management Specialist will lead the development and execution of the generation transition portfolio. This role will lead the identification and delivery of successful outcomes for portfolio initiatives, monitor and track program health, drive mitigation efforts to optimize program health and readiness, and advance key decisions needed for the generation transition. This individual will lead the alignment of the generation transition portfolio across the organization to ensure successful execution of Jurisdictional and Enterprise Portfolios.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of the generation transition portfolio of capital projects and programs. Provide leadership in the identification and development of portfolio planning, scope, schedules, and risks. Consolidate and recommend portfolio initiatives through the program assurance reviews and in alignment with enterprise and jurisdictional business plans.
- Lead actions to ensure generation transition programs, jurisdictional portfolios or enterprise portfolios, plans and initiatives are aligned toward achieving the generation transitions strategic objectives.
- Lead efforts to identify and mitigate any gaps in the generation transition portfolio. Be the integration point between the program owners and lead optimization efforts across programs.
- Lead the collection, monitoring, and reporting of Program Health, Program Metrics, and Portfolio/Enterprise Metrics.
- Annually lead the process for program health and readiness assessments for all programs across all jurisdictions, ensure assessments contain up-to-date information on objectives, requirements, scope, benefits, goals and milestones, and annual costs/risks at the program level that align with the Enterprise. Escalate and update if significant gaps are identified.
Required/Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- In addition to required degree, 8 years related work experience
- In lieu of Bachelor’s degree(s) AND 8 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School Diploma/GED AND 12 year(s) related work experience
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field
- Master’s degree in Project Management or related field
- Master’s degree in Engineering or related field
- In addition to desired degree, 9 years related work experience
- Project Management Professional and/or Business Management certification
- Expertise to Strong Expertise in Portfolio Management, Leadership, Oversight, Decision Making, Critical Thinking, and Problem Solving; Portfolio related work experience.
- Utility Experience; Portfolio & Program Management knowledge; Strong Expertise in Strategic Portfolio Planning & Delivery
- Excellent interpersonal skills including written, verbal and presentation skills
- Ability to effectively create and execute strategy by navigating in a matrixed organization
- Excellent negotiation, influencing and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent problem identification and resolution skills
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
