The IT Asset Manager is responsible for the daily and long-term strategic management of technology-related hardware within the organization. This includes planning, procurement, monitoring, and tracking hardware assets to ensure compliance with vendor contracts. They will also coordinate software and software licensing across these assets. The individual will assist in forming procurement strategies to optimize technology spending across the organization. The IT Asset Manager will also develop and implement procedures for tracking company assets to oversee quality control throughout their lifecycles.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the development, maintenance and execution of an asset management program including policies, processes, procedures, tools and reporting.
- Manages tracking and inventory of all technology related assets, including desktops, laptops, infrastructure assets, phones, mobile devices and printers.
- Performs physical inventories as needed at all locations ensuring appropriate data is gathered and uploaded to the appropriate systems.
- Performs required audits, coordinates updates of incorrect data, and runs scheduled reports ensuring all data is correct and up to date on a regular basis.
- Identifies equipment shortages and new requests, validates asset specifications to ensure they align with the intended use of business, works with vendor to obtain quotes, and once approved ensures new systems are added to the appropriate systems.
- Assists with computer asset refreshes by verifying and placing orders, auditing and reporting on refresh process, and deploying new devices to end user as required.
- Manages technology related asset decommission process including inventorying and scheduling 3rd party e-waste pickups, ensuring all destruction documentation is updated, and making sure all asset details are correct in the appropriate systems.
- Assists in planning and managing software and software licensing on technology related assets.
- Ensures license optimization and compliance with technology related assets and software.
- Manages vendor relationships with 3rd party asset providers in the printer, telecom, mobile and audio-visual areas.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a minimum of five (5) years of experience working in Information Technology is required. Requires ability to build collaborative relationships, drive strategic direction and have a strong understanding of technologies used in a Manufacturing and corporate environment. Must be willing to work independently with minimal supervision. Desired experience with IT Asset Management solutions and ITIL methodology.
